About

Reno’s social cold-plunging club since 2021 — building resilience and community, one plunge at a time.

Why we plunge

Resilience

Cold plunging builds resilience and confidence by helping you practice discomfort in a controlled, repeatable way. Over time, you learn to stay calm, trust yourself, and handle whatever comes at you.

Community

Cold plunging is better together. Sharing the experience creates real connection — people show up, support each other, and keep coming back because it feels good to do hard things as a group.

Vitality

Cold plunging supports vitality by helping the body adapt, recover, and regulate itself. People who plunge regularly notice better recovery, improved sleep, and steadier energy.

What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.

FAQS

Frequently Asked Questions

I'm not sure I am ready yet. Can I come watch?
Absolutely! Many people start by watching to get a feel for it. Our group is supportive, and there's no pressure to plunge. We're also a social club and often meet for food and drinks after, so you can join the fun without getting wet!
Do I have to register?
Nope. Just show up! We're a casual group and all are welcome. If you want to stay in the loop, you can view our website or Facebook page. It's helpful to RSVP to events so we know to expect you, but it's not required.
I don't swim. Can I still plunge?
Yes. We pick locations with shallow water where swimming isn't needed. Stay in spots where you can stand safely, and always plunge with others. Let the group know so we can support you! If you're nervous, try a quick dip and see how you feel. Many people find they can plunge even if they don't swim.
Is polar plunging safe?
Polar plunging is safe and fun with a few precautions. If you have health conditions, check with your doctor first. Start with short dips, always plunge with friends, and warm up right after. Avoid alcohol, know the water conditions, and listen to your body. Risks like cold shock or hypothermia are rare if you stay prepared and keep it short.
Is there a fee to join?
Nope. We don't see how charging money for people to jump in cold water in a public river makes sense. We're a casual group and all are welcome.
I've never done this before. Is it difficult?
While polar plunging is both physically and mentally challenging, it is surprisingly easy to do with an open mind and some determination. It might feel intense at first, but many find it exhilarating. Start with a quick dip and work your way up as you get used to the cold. Our group is here to cheer you on and make it a fun, supportive experience!
What about parking?
Our main event at Wingfield Park is on Sundays, so parking at downtown meters is free. There's ample parking available on both sides of the river.
What should I bring?
Bring a swimsuit, towel, warm clothes for after, and sturdy footwear for getting in and out of the water. A thermos of something warm to drink and a dry bag for your belongings are also great ideas. Hand-warmers can make it easier to button your pants and tie your shoes. Don't forget your adventurous spirit!
Where do you change clothes?
We often change on-site or at our cars. Many bring a towel or changing robe for privacy. Some spots may have restrooms, but it's best to come prepared!
